As an Offshore Crane Operator, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient lifting and handling of heavy equipment and materials on offshore platforms and vessels.
Responsibilities
- Operate offshore cranes in a safe and controlled manner, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Perform pre-operational inspections of cranes to ensure their optimal working condition.
- Maneuver loads with precision, maintaining stability and preventing swing or drift.
- Collaborate with riggers and other team members to execute lifting operations smoothly.
- Follow signals from the rigging team and communicate effectively via radio or hand signals.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the crane to keep it in peak condition.
- Report any issues or malfunctions with the crane or equipment to the relevant authorities.
- Participate in safety meetings and emergency drills to enhance safety awareness.
- Keep accurate records of crane operations, including lift details and maintenance logs.
Experience
- Significant experience as an Offshore Crane Operator, preferably in the oil and gas or marine industry.
- Valid offshore crane operator certification or license, as per industry standards.
- In-depth knowledge of crane operations, safety practices, and load capacity calculations.
- Proficiency in reading load charts and understanding rigging procedures.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception for precise lifting operations.
- Ability to work in a rotational schedule and adapt to various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with rigging teams and supervisors.
- Physical fitness and dexterity to operate the crane controls and perform manual tasks.
- A keen focus on safety and a commitment to following safety regulations and procedures.
- Familiarity with different types of offshore cranes, such as pedestal cranes and knuckle boom cranes, is advantageous.
