Responsibilities
- Design, install, and maintain electrical systems on offshore platforms and marine vessels.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure electrical equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions, minimising downtime and disruptions.
- Collaborate with the marine engineering team to optimise electrical system performance.
- Perform electrical testing, commissioning, and repairs as required.
- Implement safety protocols and adherence to electrical standards and regulations.
- Develop and update electrical schematics and documentation for future reference.
- Participate in the planning and execution of electrical upgrades and retrofits.
- Provide technical support and guidance to onboard electrical technicians.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in offshore electrical engineering.
Experience
- Substantial experience as an Offshore Electrical Engineer or a similar role in the maritime or oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and control systems in an offshore environment.
- Proficiency in electrical design and software tools relevant to marine applications.
- Familiarity with offshore safety regulations and practices for electrical systems.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to liaise with cross-functional teams.
- A track record of successful electrical projects and upgrades in an offshore setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is typically required.
- Certifications in offshore safety and electrical competencies are highly advantageous.
- Physical fitness and adaptability to work in the challenging offshore environment.
